Mark williams
Mark is Heart n Soul’s Artistic Director and Chief Executive. He co-founded Heart n Soul with Pino Frumiento in 1986.
As a musician, he wanted to explore new ways of music making and using art to make a difference. In 1984, he started running creative sessions with a group of people with learning disabilities who went to the local day service, The Mulberry Centre in Deptford. Once they started, original songs flowed out. The Mulberry Crew moved into The Albany in 1986 re-naming itself Heart n Soul.
In the last 30 years Mark has been central to the development of Heart n Soul and has helped take it from a locally based touring company to an internationally respected organisation.
Mark’s portrait was taken by a memorial tree in the Albany that he feels is the calmest place in the venue.
